Ransalu’s vivid catwalk! Showcases Lanka’s regional handloom palette

Among the features of the 22nd Annual National Textile Exhibition “Ransalu” on 18 December was the evening’s vivid Fashion Show that portrayed colourful and premier handloom collections from Sri Lanka-including regional designs.

The event was part of Ministry of Industry & Commerce’ prime textile industry show that concludes today 19 December. It was graced by the First Lady Madam Shiranthi W. Rakapaksa, who was welcomed by Rishad Bathiudeen, Minister of Industry and Commerce for the evening event.

Among the creators of handlooms presented at this fashion run were from both private and public sectors, including Ko-Lanka Pure Silk (Pvt) Ltd as well as the Fashion Design & Product Development section of University of Moratuwa.

The models presented handloom designs from the regional handloom production centres motifs of regional origin. The show also featured fashion design work by Premasiri Hewavasam, a well-known name in Sri Lanka’s fashion industry

. Also present were Anura Siriwardene (Secretary, Ministry of Industry and Commerce), top officials of the Ministry and members of diplomatic community.
