Dr. Subramanian Swamy President of Janata Party, whilst welcoming the announcement made in Colombo yesterday by the Indian C-in-C that India will send Indian army personnel to train in Sri Lanka for anti-terrorist techniques of warfare, has urged the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh to confer the Bharat Ratna on Sri Lanka President Rajapaksa.
“India and Sri Lanka should co-operate multi-dimensionally has been my long standing demand, while pressing in a friendly way the need to co-opt the Tamil linguistic minority through constitutional devolution, Dr. Subramanian Swamy emphasized.
In his statement made in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, Janata Party leader has said, “I welcome the announcement made in Colombo yesterday by the Indian C-in-C that India will send Indian army personnel to train in Sri Lanka for anti-terrorist techniques of warfare.”
“Sri Lanka is one of the few countries which showed resolve to wipe out the LTTE terrorist menace, and did so in 2009”, he noted.
Dr. Swamy pointed out that Tamils of Sri Lanka [and India] as well Sinhalas have the same DNA genetically since both migrated from India.
He stressed “Even Ravana and his wife Mandodari migrated to Sri Lanka from north India after Ravana's tapas in Kailash. Hence we are one family.”
“ I urge Indian business persons, especially of Tamil Nadu, to invest in ventures in Sri Lanka, and Indian students study in that country, Dr. Subramanian Swamy said.
In conclusion Dr. Subramanian Swamy reiterated his longstanding appeal that Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh to confer the Bharat Ratna on President Rajapakshe since the Sri Lanka President made the necessary sacrifice and showed the resolve to exterminate our common terrorist menace, viz., the LTTE.
