Government officers in the North have to ensure their availability on Wednesdays to public – Governor Chandrasri

Chandrasri_3.jpgAll Government officers in the Northern Province have to be in their offices on every Wednesday and they must be available for the people who visit their offices.

Northern Province Governor G.A. Chandrasri told that he has instructed that no officials in the Northern Province should leave for Colombo on Wednesdays.

He said that Wednesday is the “Peoples’ Day” and they must be in their offices to meet the general public who visit government offices with their problems.

Governor said that all government officials should be polite, considerate and sympathetic with general public and try their best to assist the general public in attending those who approaches them with problems.

Furthermore, when speaking about the rain affected situation in the North he said that Vavuuniya and Mannar are the two badly affected districts in the province.

He said the officials and the security forces in the North have worked as a team and saw that all arrangements are made to help those civilians affected by the inclemency weather.

Chandrasri, Northern Province Governor said that he visited the weather affected Kilinochchi districts on 31st December and went and met flood affected people in Karachchi and Kandawalai.

He said, “Government took immediate steps to provide relief assistance to the people affected due to flood in Northern Province. The governor as the government’s top representative in the province, made sure that the relief assistance reach the right masses.”

The parliamentarian M.Chandrakumar also accompanied during the visit and met the people at welfare camps in Kilinochchi Muruganantha College, Puliampokkanai Nagendra School, Kandawalai Tile Factory and Pannankandy Schools. They provided them with dry foods.

Further Governor also instructed the relevant officials to look into the daily problems of the victims and provide them immediate relief assistance.

Kilinochchi Government Agent Mrs.Roopavathy Ketheeswaran, Kilinochchi Regional Director of Health Services Dr.S.Karthikeyan, Deputy Director of District Disaster Management Unit and divisional secretaries of Karaichchi and Kandavalai also accompanied during this visit.

Governor added that as the rain has ceased for the last three days and the affected people who were in the schools and Kovils have already left for their homes.

Governor Chandrasri also commended the duty consciousness of the Kilinochchi Excutive Engineer N.Suthakaran who almost lived on the top of the tank-bund of Iranamadu Tank and managed and controlled the tank from breaching.
