Stalin_with_Karunanidhi.jpgFormer chief minister of Tamil Nadu and Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam(DMK) president has said that his political heir is his younger son and party treasurer M K Stalin.

"Stalin will take forward my legacy after me", Mr Karunanidhi said in a function

Forty five days after asserting that M.K. Stalin was living up to his expectations totally, DMK president M. Karunanidhi on Thursday dropped yet another hint that Mr. Stalin would be his heir-apparent, saying that the youth wing leader would continue to carry forward his work after him.

“I will dedicate myself for the betterment of the Dalits till my last days. The question naturally arises is who will be after me and you should not forget that the answer is M.K. Stalin,” Mr Karunanidhi said while admitting PMK’s Vellore (west) district secretary Samuel Chellapandian and his supporters in the DMK.

Only on November 12, 2012, while addressing a function to felicitate Mr. Stalin and former Union Minister T.R. Baalu for handing over the resolution adopted in the TESO conference to the United Nations and United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC), Mr Karunanidhi said Mr. Stalin was living up to his expectation.

He cited two couplets from Tirukural — one talks about the role expected of a father and another the role of a son — Mr. Karunanidhi said while he had done his duty, Mr. Stalin also fulfilled what was expected of him.

He went on to add that he and party general secretary K. Anbazhagan would naturally favor Mr Stalin in the event of who would shoulder his responsibilities.
