Sri Lanka Cabinet to meet hereafter on every Thursday mornings

Lalith_Weeratunga_2.jpgFor the first time in the history of Sri Lanka, Cabinet Ministers will be meeting hereafter on every Thursday mornings.

For the first time, for the year 2013, the first cabinet meeting was held yesterday morning.

Yesterday, Douglas Devananda Minister of Traditional Industries and Small Enterprise Development speaking to Asian Tribune told that hereafter the cabinet of Ministers will be meeting on every Thursday morning, a departure from the usual Wednesday's meeting that was followed since the independence of the country.

When Asian Tribune contacted Lalith Weeratunga, Secretary to President, he clarified “Cabinet used to have its meetings on Wednesdays, but since President Mahinda Rajapaksa wants all ministers to be in their offices as long as possible as Wednesday is the public day, it was decided to have the cabinet meeting on Thursdays.”

Lalith Weeratubnga further added, “President wants this year to be the year of excellence in public service delivery.“

Minister Kehelliya Rambukkawella Cabinet spokesman told Asian Tribune , hereafter he will conduct the ‘Cabinet Briefing’ on every Thursday afternoon at the Ministry of Information.
