President Mahinda postpone his 3-day visit to Jaffna

Colombo, 08 January, (Asiantribune.com):

Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s three-day visit to the Jaffna district from 14th to 16th January, to participate in the national Thai Pongal Day and in other ceremonies has been postponed due to bad weather prevailing in the north, as well as in the other parts of the country.

A spokesperson for Eelam Peoples Democratic Party (EPDP) told Asian Tribune that as the weather conditions in the country has brought about immense destructions and disaster not only in the North, but also in the East as well as in the Upcountry, the visit of the President has been postponed to another suitable date, as the President has indicated that he wishes to concentrate on the relief activities in the disaster affected areas in the country.

The spokesperson said that as far as the opening up of the hospital building at the Jaffna Teaching Hospital, President has indicated that he might consider participating soon on another convenient date.
