Colombo, 03 April, ( The Muslim Council of Sri Lanka (MCSL) has decided not to proceed with legal action against People's Action for Free and Fair Elections (PAFFREL) Chief Kingsley Rodrigo over his recent utterance that several Muslim armed groups was operating in the Eastern province.

The Council's Interim President N.M. Ameen said that his organisation which comprises over 50 of the largest and most influential National organizations of Muslims in Sri Lanka has decided to accept the apology of Rodrigo, and will not proceed with legal action against him.

"His apology is a victory to the Muslim community, because many groups have tried to tarnish the image of the community by making baseless allegations claiming that Muslim armed groups exist in the East, but never proved their accusations," Mr. Ameen noted.
