[b]No Muslim armed groups called 'Jihad' in the midst of the Muslims - Chairman of PAFFREL concedes[/b]

[b]Colombo, 29 March, (Asiantribune.com):[/b] People Action For Free & Fair Elections (PAFFREL) tendered its apology publicly for making a false statement regarding the existence of a Muslim armed group called 'Jihad' in the midst of the Muslim community.

The apology was tendered by Kingsley Rodrigo, Chairman of the PAFFREL in writing as well as in a press conference he held on 27 March, at the National Library Service Auditorium, Colombo.

Earlier in a letter written to Sri Lanka Jama'ath e Islami, a Muslim organization of repute, Rodrigo in his letter dated 20th March 2006, said, "I am feeling very sorry about the inconvenience caused to the members of Jamati Islami organization in this regard."
