By Quintus Perera

Colombo, 15 May, (Asiantribune.com): The Accelerated Employment Services (AES) programme is a Tsunami response programme to accelerate the delivery of integrated labour market services in the areas of employment promotion, short term training and incentives to employers for creating employment opportunities.

The implementing partners of the programme are JobsNet, National Employment Sourcing and Delivery System; Ministry of Labour Relations and Foreign Employment, Swedish Internat ional Aid Agency and the International Labour Organization. JobsNet is involved in the AES programme concentrating on employment promotion, training and data management to assist livelihood recovery in the Tsunami affected districts. This would support employers through incentives to recruit new employees, which jobseekers enrolled through the AES programme would receive financial assistance to undergo skills enhancement training.

Under AES 10,000 jobseekers in the Tsunami affected areas would be registered, into the JobsNet Database under special reference, while 5,000 would be enrolled in job clubs for further training in enhancing the employability of such people.

The analysis and dissemination of Labor Market Information (LMI) on Tsunami affected areas as well as design, implementation and operation of a centralized LMI is also part of the AES Programme.
