Sri Lanka: Technical failure cause for power outing

Sunil C. Perera in Colombo

Colombo, 13 April, (Asiantribune.com): A technical failure at the Victoria power station was the cause of the island wide power failure and the CEB says it will take at least one hour for electricity to be fully restored.

"One of the hydropower stations called Vicotia power plant tripped. That's the reason for the island wide power cut," said Ceylon Electricity Board General Manager Ranjit Palleperuma.

Palleperuma said engineers were working to restore the power supply. "It is not (case of) sabotage," he said.
