16 dead and 43 people wounded in the Bomb explosion at Pilyandala

Colombo, 25 April, (Asiantribune.com): Latest reports revealed that a total of 16 civilians including a Buddhist monk was killed in the bomb explosion at 6.45 PM today at the Piliyandala bus stand, located 14 KM away from the Colombo city.

According to an eye witness, a gram seller in the bus stand, said that heard a huge sound and immediately saw a huge ball of flame and parts of the bus flying all over in the air. He added that bus was completely destroyed.

There are 11 dead bodies lying the corridor of the Piliyandala hospital. Out of the dead bodies lying in the Kalubowilla hospital 3 bodies are of that of females and two bodies over there are beyond recognition.

Piliyandala DMO Dr. Mrs R.Vincent said that they have shifted 20 injured people to Kalobowilla hospital and out of which 10 of them were in a very serious condition.

Hospital sources said that nearly 43 people were injured and out of the injured, 20 of them with serious and multiple injuries are moved to Kalubowilla hospital and others who received minor injuries are treated at the Pilyandala hospital.

According to the police sources, the bomb has been exploded inside a Ceylon Transport Board bus parked at Piliyandala, public bus stand.
