Eastern Province Ministers took oaths before Sri Lanka President

Colombo, 17 May, (Asiantribune.com): Sivanesathurai Chandrakanthan alias Pillayan was sworn-in as the Chief Minister for the Eastern Province before President Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday evening. Three other provincial councilors also took their oaths, as cabinet of ministers despite M.L.A.M Hisbullah was absent. They are T.Navaratnarajah, Wimalaweera Dissanayake and M.Uduma.

After the swearing in ceremony Minister Athaullah welcomed the newly appointed Chief Minister.

Chandrakantha obtained the highest number of preferential votes from the Batticaloa District in the recently concluded Provincial Council elections.

Meanwhile Chief Minister aspirant from Batticaloa, M.L.A.M. Hizbullah expressed his displeasure as he was not offered the Chief Ministership of the East Provincial Council despite being elected on the Betel Leaf symbol, the symbol of the United Peoples Freedom Alliance.
