Sunil C. Perera and Chithralal Jayasinghe

Colombo, 26 May, (Asiantribune.com): The National Patriotic Movement is likely to be divided due to the recent clash between Wimal Weerawansa faction and Somawansa faction.

Speaking to media Rev.Dambara Amila thero who represents Somawansa faction said today that Wimal faction did not allow them to enter the executive meeting of the NPM, which was held at the NPM headquarters in this morning.

Wimal faction ordered the Somawansa faction to limit their participation for the exco meeting and allowed only five members to participate in the meeting. After that both parties had tense argument.

However Rev.Amila said they wish to call a national convention of the NPM 16th June to explain the current position of the NPM and take stern action against the Weerawansa faction. Rev.Amila also condemned their attitude on today’s meeting.

At present NPM headquarters is located at the residence of Mr.Gunadasa Amarasekara who is a strong supporter of the Weerawansa faction.
