LTTE made 21 brutal attacks targeting civilians

Colombo, 28 May, (Asiantribune.com): Army spokesman Brigadier Udaya Nanayakkara said at the media briefing the terrorists have attacked 21 brutal attacks for the last five months targeting civilians. 149 civilians have died in these attacks and 500 were injured.

The security forces have successfully in liberating 600 square kilometers of land in Vavuniya from terrorists. Five major locations of the terrorists were attacked by the air force in the past week. The operation was carried out by the 57 battalion.

Brigadier Nanayakkara added as a result of the security forces attacks the terrorists were compelled to shift their camps and centers 45 kilometers beyond the battle front.

He further said it is believed that LTTE cadre called Dora, an expert on explosives of the LTTE, believed to have been killed in one of these attacks.
