G.L.meets officials of the USA and the World Bank

Colombo, 02 June, (Asiantribune.com): Minister Professor G.L Peris meets with the senior officer of the USA and the World Bank.

The minister is currently on a visit to Washington to enlighten US officials on Sri Lanka’s present political situation. According to a communiqué issued by the Ministry of Export Development and International Trade the minister is also to enlightenment to the relevant officials on the possibilities of foreign investment in Sri Lanka at an international business summit in Washington.

The ministry says that the minister had briefed the officials on the democratic development in the Eastern Province following the formation of the new provincial Council. The American officials had expressed their satisfaction towards the democratic process in the province.

Minister G.L Peris had lengthily expressed views on Sri Lanka government’s measures to secure human rights in the island. He pointed out that the government is ready to submit a special draft bill on enhancing human rights to the parliament.

Meanwhile US ambassador Robert Blake has said that there is a positive environment to enhance solidarity between the US and Sri Lanka.
