The SAARC Chamber Crafts Village Project launched in Kathnandu

Colombo, 25 July, (Asiantribune.com): The first retail outlet for handicrafts produced by South Asia Women Entrepreneurs was launched recently in Kathmandu and is located at Lazimpat in Kathmandu. It is an affiliate of the SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry and brings together women entrepreneurs of the region, a press release by SAARC Chamber office in Colombo indicated.Nepalese Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister K.P. Nepalese Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister K.P. Sharma Oli inaugurated the SAARC village at a function in Kathmandu. Macky Hashim, Imm. Past President of SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry who initiated this project, represented Sri Lanka and Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Sri Lanka (FCCISL) at this function.

The SCCV has been established as a platform for exchange of trade information and entrepreneurial skills between women entrepreneurs of the region and to promote and market the goods produced by women of Nepal, Bangladesh, India, Bhutan, Maldives, Sri Lanka and Pakistan. The SAARC Chamber Craft Village Project is also providing opportunity to women of South Asian region to demonstrate their skills and entrepreneurship and enhance sustainable livelihood of women entrepreneurs.
