Tigers kill three soldiers and a civilian

Colombo, 17 May, (Asiantribune.com): Tiger guerrillas exploded claymore mines killing three soldiers and shot dead a Tamil civilian today, a day after the United States Principle Deputy Assistant Secretary of South and Central Asian Affairs, Donald Camp told the press that the US would encourage the European Union to ban the LTTE.

The LTTE exploded a claymore fragmentation mine in Welikanda this morning, targeting an army road patrol killing two soldiers and injuring one, an official of the army media unit said.

"The terrorists blew up a claymore mine targeting a road patrol in
Welikanda, Sinhapura, and killed two soldiers," he said.

In another incident Tiger guerillas blew up a clay more mine targeting a road patrol of the Police Special Task Force killing one policeman in Thirukkovil, this morning.

The LTTE blew up another claymore mine in Weli-Oya targeting an army Patrol, but the blast missed the target, a military official said.

In another incident, two LTTE gunmen shot dead a Tamil civilian in Jaffna town this morning. The two LTTE gunmen riding a Hero Honda motorcycle shot dead Selvarasa Siriras (36) of Kanakasabhe Lane, Kankesanturai, police said. The gunmen fled the scene after the shooting, police said.
