Sri Lanka: Elections secretariat insist voters carry identity card or certified photograph

Colombo, 18 May, (Asiantribune.com): The Elections Secretariat has announced that it is essential for all voters to carry their National Identity Card or a Photograph certified by the Grama Sevaka officer or any other government officer when going to polling booths to cast their vote on Saturday, where voting will take place for 20 local authorities.

Voting will take place on 20 May (Saturday) for Colombo, Gampaha, Galle and Kalmunai municipal councils, Gampola, Kathankudy and Wattegama urban councils and 13 Pradeshiya Sabhas.

Meanwhile, the election for the Vavuniya Urban Council, Vavuniya South
Sinhala Pradeshiya Sabha which was also scheduled to take place on
Saturday has been postponed till September 30th, 2006.
