UNP hands over a No Confidence motion against government

Colombo, 08 December, (Asiantribune.com): UNP has handed over ‘No Confidence Motion’ to the Secretary General of the Parliament against the government this morning.

The Opposition said it was over the huge loss incurred by the controversial hedging agreement.

Speaking to media, General Secretary of the UNP, Tissa Attanayake said that this no faith motion was signed by the UNP leader, Ranil Wickremesinghe, Parliamentarians Jayawickreme Perera, Renuka Herath, Joseph Micheal Perera, Ravi Karunanayake and Dayasiri Jayasekera, along with him.

The no confidence motion states, "It is resolved that the manner in which the hedging agreement was entered into demonstrates the inability of the government of President Mahinda Rajapaksa to prudently manage the financial affairs of the country and therefore this House has no confidence in the Government."
