Sri Lanka Cricket interim committee dissolved

Colombo, 24 December, (Asiantribune.com): The Interim Committee of Sri Lanka cricket was dissolved today by Sports Minister Gamini Lokuge, officials said.

They said the order for the dissolution was given on Tuesday and the minister would take a decision on Friday whether to hold fresh elections to Sri Lanka Cricket or appoint a new interim committee.

In recent months, sports minister Lokuge and Interim Committee chief Arjuna Ranatunga have been at logger heads over a range of issues including the exclusion of star spinner Ajantha Mendis from the team that has gone to Bangladesh, the sacking of 16 Cricket Board employees and the tours to England and Pakistan.

Meanwhile the sources say the Secretary of the Ministry of Sports will look after all functions of the Sri Lanka Cricket.
