LTTE's silent treatment irks Muslim Peace Secretariat

LTTE's silent treatment irks Muslim Peace Secretariat

By Munza Mushtaq – Reporting from Colombo for the Asian Tribune

Colombo, 18 May, (Asiantribune.com): Despite constant reminders, the LTTE continued to give a deaf ear to the Muslim Peace Secretariat (MPS) request for meeting.

MPS Director General Javid Yusuf told the Asian Tribune that it has been more than four months since his Secretariat wrote to the LTTE Peace Secretariat seeking an appointment for a meeting, but the LTTE organization has so far failed to reply even positively or negatively to their request.

The meeting is being facilitated by the Norwegian peace facilitators, who have continuously reminded the LTTE Peace Secretariat about the Muslim Peace Secretariat request which was initially made in January this year.

The MPS hopes to take up matters including the security of the Muslims living in the North East, issues pertaining to the Northern Muslims and those who have been displaced during this meeting.

"The Muslim Peace Secretariat will also reiterate the request for the accommodation of a separate Muslim delegation when peace talks resume in the future," Mr. Yusuf added.
