Peshawar, 24 April, (Asiantribune.com): Maulana Sufi Muhammad, chief of Tehrik Nifaz Shariat-e-Muhammadi (TNSM) has extended deadline for the establishment of Darul Qaza (final appellate court) in Malakand Agency, to an unspecified time.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the shura (council) of Tehrik Nifaz Shariat-e-Muhammadi held at its headquarters in Amandara, Malakand on Thursday. The meeting endorses the decision of Sufi Muhammad to extend the deadline for an indefinite period.
A delegation of Awami National Party (ANP) on Wednesday visited TNSM headquarters and negotiated with the outlawed outfit’s chief and other leaders for extending the deadline.
Earlier the chief of TNSM, Sufi Muhammad who brokered the Swat peace deal between NWFP government and Taliban militants in Swat had threatened to back out of the accord, if the government did not establish Qazi courts and Darul Qaza in the region till April 23.
Many quarters within Pakistan and international community has expressed their concerns over Swat peace deal between the NWFP government and the militants in February.
On Thursday, US top officials including Gates have asked Pakistan to take strong action against the militants.
Many fears that with establishment of Sharia courts in Swat, militants will be able to establish a state within the state in Pakistan, however militants have denied it.
