Washington, 24 April, (Asiantribune.com): The United States has said that its deeply concerned over the existing situation in Sri Lanka and condemns the actions by the LTTE to hold thousands of innocent civilians hostage in this so-called safe-zone. According to the statement issued here, the US's Permanent Representative to the United Nations said, "we think that it is absolutely imperative that both sides cease the fighting and the heavy shelling that is putting many thousands of civilians in immediate danger."
In her remarks the Ambassador Rice said that US welcomes the fact that a number of—that many thousand civilians have been able to leave in recent days from the safe zone, but she added, "we are frankly appalled by the fact that many escaped are unable to receive life-saving treatment."
The US has also called on the Sri Lanka government not only to cease the shelling and the offensive military action - and LTTE to do the same - but also to uphold its responsibility to provide support and assistance and access to the IDPs who are streaming into hospitals and camps. "The fact that the United Nations, that ICRC, that the media do not have adequate access to these individuals is unacceptable and is of grave concern," the Ambassador remarked.
"We also insist that both sides uphold all of the principles of international humanitarian law and the fact that both sides have been shooting at civilians as they leave these—leave the safe zone is one gross manifestation of the apparent violation of international humanitarian law," she concluded.

Ambassador Rice appears to be very much concerned about the fact that the UNO, ICRC, and Media which have no access to the Sri Lanka's north eastern area. What Price does not know are the callous and heinous activities carried out by the so-called representatives from the above stated organizations If they were allowed. I think Price has no eyes to see who is violating human rights. Sri Lanka knows and respects human rights than any other nation in the world at present. Some of her remarks show her gross naivety rather than maturity and further, it seems that Rice is fully ignorant of the fact that her brain stops functioning when her mouth works.

It seems, the government of Sri Lanka’s decision on not allowing the international media and aid agencies in to the war zone is a fantastic idea.
Why? Because, all those who shout can only predict and they can never prove their allegations. If they try to prove, then they will have to expose their sources, which will lead to other matters, so they don’t.
Imagine, if the government had allowed these puppets and IC start the blame game on government, and then SL will have no option rather than give up.
Seems world have a lot to learn from SL war strategies.
Good work Sri Lanka !
