Colombo, 01 May, (Asiantribune.com): The official website of Sri Lanka Army, www.army.lk and one of another Sri Lanka Government’s site - Lanka Puwath www.lankapuwath.lk have been hacked by suspected LTTE hackers this morning (May 1).
However Army Website is now back on the cyberspace.
Sources of lanka puwath said, measures are taken to restore the website soon.
Issuing a flash story by the www.army.lk said, Sri Lanka Army’s official news wing has been illegally hacked and technically 'assassinated' by suspected Tiger terrorists or their proxies, during the wee hours on Friday (1st May), inserting some horrible and gruesome images.
This illegal hacking, termed 'cyber terrorism' is a criminal offence that can be subjected to prosecution, according to international provisions.
After the restoration Sri Lanka Army website said, "Tiger terrorists and their mouthpieces since of recent times have been miserably affected with the record increase in the number of visitors to this popular Army Web portal which depicted the bitter truth behind LTTE terrorism and its ugly atrocities in their correct perspective."
It also appealed to 'bear with them at this critical moment of our military history at a time LTTE terrorism was counting its days.'
LTTE propagandists have been extensively using the Internet as a platform to launch their misinformation, and disinformation campaigns against Sri Lanka since 1997.
According to Defence sources, "The terrorists (LTTE) had a free reign in spreading their propaganda ploys through the Internet until the end of 2005, when the current Secretary of Defence Gotabaya Rajapaksa, introduced counter actions."

Sarath Since LTTE has now
Sarath
Since LTTE has now been incapacitated from launching their brutal acts of violence against the SL Army as well as their own people on physical basis, they appear to be engaging in another criminal act of cyber terrorism. It is hard for a thief to give up the habit of stealing.
