UPFA General Secretary praises SLFP Paris branch

Paris, 08 May, (Asiantribune.com): Education Minister Susil Premajayantha, who is the General Secretary of United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) praised the activities of the Paris Branch of Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) and urged the SLFP members to work in close coordination with like-minded political groups to assist the development work in the country, especially the development plans in the northern province and the eastern province.

"As you work in harmony with all groups of expatriate Sri Lankans, you will be able to coordinate activities in order to ensure maximum support for the motherland from the expatriate community," Mr Premajayantha advised members of SLFP Paris Branch held in Paris on March 5, 2009. In addition to SLFP members several well wishers including Communist Party activist Mr Ivan Seneviratne, founder President of Negombian Association in France and members of recently formed Paris branch of the National Patriotic Front participated in the discussion with the visiting minister.

Minister Premajayantha gave a brief outline of the current political developments and explained the success of the military campaign to liberate the Tamil people in the Mulaithivu district.

Mr Premajayantha, who is a member of the UNESCO Executive Committee said that the next annual general meeting of the SLFP Paris Branch could be held in October 2009 as he will be visiting Paris to attend the UNESCO ExCo Meeting. He urged the SLFPers to broadbase the party membership by opening its doors to all those who accepted 'Mahinda Chintanaya' irrespective of party differences.
