London, 08 May, (Asiantribune.com): The anger of Jeremy Page, the South Asian correspondent of The Times is understandable: his application for the journalistic visa was rejected; when he tried to make the entry as a bogus tourist incognito, was caught at the Katunayake airport and then deported from Sri Lanka.
Since then Jeremy Page has been doing the obvious; he spread venom in his writing against Sri Lanka in The Times. One of his fans found his obsession with the war against Tamil Tigers funny, by expressing, “Jeremy goes nuts after his visa denial.”
Up until recently, its famously right-wing rival in London, The Daily Telegraph, has been taking a relatively balance view about the conflict. However, during this week, there were two articles highlighting the plight of Tamil civilians and that of 11 refugees who landed in India while carefully eclipsing the relief felt by almost 200,000 Tamils who had been held against their will. By going really mischievous, it has deliberately omitted the violence committed by the LTTE against these people a few days back and the reasons of it being banned in the United Kingdom as a terrorist organization.
The Daily Telegraph takes a strong view against Islamic militancy both at home and abroad. However, it looks at the violence of LTTE from a different point of view – and, all of a sudden.
Both of these publications were very excited about the war in Iraq and Afghanistan – of course, until they turned sour. Then they turned their guns on the leaders who were instrumental in launching them – George Bush and Tony Blair. When these wars were started, some headlines read in some publications as ‘Blitz’ the fireworks of bombings, during the hype. The headlines slowly evolved with the bad news at the front, when the initial hysteria died down: another Vietnam, they lamented; the phenomenon of WMD was mocked as a pack of lies.
When casualty figures reached very high level, these journalists did a complete U turn, while leaving the politicians in the lurch or making them scapegoats.
Western politicians are not silly. They know what these self-righteous journalists are up to. So, they talk in proportion to the temperature created by these journalists in a way that satisfy almost all sides in a conflict.
As more and more politicians embrace sites like Youtube to talk to people directly without leaving a role for journalists, their influence in contemporary politics is fast dwindling. Politicians mock them by paying lip service to their findings.
Glorification of terrorism by equating it to freedom struggle by stealth may be a desperate way to whip up the enthusiasm of weary readership – until it breaks out on the home-front though.
The journalists of both publications fail to tell us why the Scots want to break away from the United Kingdom despite speaking the same language and practising Christianity as religion.
If these publications mock the aspirations of the Scottish Nationalists, they are investing in the collective national guilt as well, something they portray as a tendency only of Buddhist extremists.

What the Sri Lankan High
What the Sri Lankan High Commission in London must adopt is doing a Tigers there: take these journalists to a posh restaurant and offer them a sumptuous meal or book an all-paid holiday in our tropical island - not job done, job well done, indeed. If we think that the journalists who write about wars are saints, that can trigger off the end of humanity.
Sarath Some journalists
Sarath
Some journalists especially who work for UK, USA based newspapers have two tongues like monitors. Most of them want to disseminate bogus news rather than the truth. They are really not journalists with a better understanding of their duty or ethic of journalism. This reminds me what Grove Peterson who, delivering the eighteenth Don R. Mellet Memorial Address said – “ There is no crime committed in the field of journalism, not even super lurid sensationalism, not even general inaccuracy, that is more subversive of the principles of the free press, more indefensible than the crime of slanting news to meet a publisher’s policy….the departure from objective writing in the news columns not only makes a tragic mockery of the free press, but crates a vicious weapon in the hands of journalistic gangsters”
Nobody in Sri Lanka cares
Nobody in Sri Lanka cares for these third grade journalists, that is what matters for Sri Lankans, only LTTE and the Tamils supporting terrorism will give them lunches. They are not worth even a cent. There is nothing to hide by the SL Government, the president and his cabinet and the militery stand bravely for what they are elected for and the truth. People who had LTTE lunches are slowly vomiting them now, for some it will be a very difficult vomit in the future, just watch this space after LTTE is wiped off.
Media Terrorism Gobels lead
Media Terrorism
Gobels lead the Nazi propaganda by manipulating media to repeatedly tell the untruth to public. He knew that repeatedly told lies would ultimately absorb in to the society as truth.
Media Terrorism against Sri Lankan Government is nothing in exception to that.
BBC, CNN, Al Jazira and few other “International Media” are in midst of a media war to save the LTTE even at the last moment. There are ample of betrayals and NGO people to speak on these media. They speak nothing about the crimes that terrorist do to the civilians, but they are so much worrying about Sri Lankan army activities against Terrorism.
World knew how the BBC, CNN and Al Jazira avoided reporting crimes done by Israeli Armies in Ghaza. (Do not get misled by its name, Al Jazira is the US and UK mouth to Islamic world)
What about killing of more than 150 civilians at Afghanishtan by USA air force fighters in this week? For these Media terrorists, such activities are acts against terrorism and justifiable.
What do these media say to the world? All civilians who die due to USA army attacks are terrorists and terrorism against super powers of the world has to be eliminated, but Military operations in Sri Lanka has to be restricted as it will lead to panic the civilians. Anybody will laugh from the anus to these jokes.
These media are nothing but puppets that wave their heads when western super powers want to give messages to the third world. At this moment, as general public in Sri Lanka, what we should do is to get together and protest against these Media. So at least they will realize that there are people who cannot be fooled by these acts.
These media repeatedly told the world that Obama will lead to a new path to the world. But as we knew from the very beginning, there is no difference between Obama and Bush, except the skin colour. By bombings in Afghanisthan, Obama has not opened a new path to the world, but by doing these things, he is pushing the world to roll further along Bush’s path.
The insight of both these leaders are and the future US and UK leaders will be the very same, that is to spread the Greek- Jewish-Christianity throughout the world. Any culture, value or thought against Greek- Jewish-Christianity is a threat to them. In that aspect, Hitler was in very close to this idea, but the biggest mistake he did was he thought that Jewish are enemies of Aryans. But when critically analyzing, it is very clear that Greek, Jewish and Christian values and cultures stand hand in hand.
Scandinavian countries like Norway and Sweden are only second class agents of USA and UK who help to achieve these targets without having mud on their hands. So, it is immaterial to mention anything here about the NGOs who are funded by these countries. Media Terrorism is only a small aspect of it.
Tamil terrorism is nothing but a very small aspect of this evil process. Defeating LTTE is as much important as anything, because it will lead to new pathway to the hundreds of nations suffering from “COFLICTS” created by the super powers.
What we should do is to understand the broad picture…. As great lord Buddha preached,
SAMMA DHITTI…… (Correct and noble insight)
While the tigers and their
While the tigers and their allies including the journalists who see no evil, hear no evil when it comes to LTTE atrocities, are doing their propaganda so effectively, what are ordinary Sri Lankans (be they Sinhalaese, Tamils or Muslims) doing? Why have we not done enough to present our case better and more effectively.
Forget countering tiger propaganda, that will be a negative approach. So start a blitz on all news media, high commissions, Embassies, all UN organizations, etc, etc, to tell the world of the positive things the SL armed forces and Police have done and expose the atrocities committed by the LTTE.
While it may be argued that this has already been done, in a situation where it is clear that the western governments seem to be biased towards the LTTE but opposed to Al Qaida and Taliban, nothing that we do even at the risk of repeating, will be too much.
If after concerted efforts we can convince even a few to take a balanced view (not partial towards any side) we will have won some part of the propaganda war also.
