Hilary Rajakarunanayake, Editor – Sri Lanka, Asian Tribune

Colombo, 11 May, (Asiantribune.com): A new regional Hudson Samarasinghe - Chairman, Sri Lanka Broadcasting CorporationHudson Samarasinghe - Chairman, Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporationbroadcasting service in Tamil and Sinhala for listeners in the Wanni district will be inaugurated by the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation shortly.

Chairman SLBC Hudson Samarasinghe told the Asian Tribune that all plans have been finalized for the inauguration of this FM radio broadcast on a daily basis. "One of the aims of this service is to resuscitate the music, the traditions and customs of the people of the Wanni area which have gone into abeyance, as a result of the LTTE hitherto controlling the people of the Wanni, under their iron heel.

All radio programs in Tamil and Sinhala will be organized to foster amity and unity among the Tamil and Sinhala listeners in the Wanni area. Several live broadcasts will also be introduced" he said.

After Kilinochchi was captured by the Sri Lanka Army last month the broadcasts of the ‘Voice of Tigers’ full of anti Sinhala LTTE propaganda which fostered hatred of the Sinhala people have now been stilled.

Hudson Samarasinghe, Chairman SLBC took a forthright decision recently by banning the controversial BBC program 'Sandesaya' in the SLBC network since the BBC was allegedly supporting the Eelam dream of the LTTE by acting as a mouthpiece for their false propaganda. "A broadcasting service must be impartial and not pander only to the aspirations of the Tamil diaspora in the UK, and the west" he reiterated.

In the modern world it is

In the modern world it is imporatant to bring some kindness to the many Tamils and some Sinhalese who suffered due to the war. Music is the greatest satisfaction to them, to bring up the goodness of the human nature and to realise that we are all equal at the end. Mr Samarasinghe should be commended for such a noble thought, we need it now and not later. Well done Sir.
