Minister of Tourism Milinda Moragoda and Indonesian Minister of Culture and Tourism Mr. Jero Wacik emerging from an international conference on Trail of Civilization on Buddhism 2009 held in Borobudur recently. to share their experience in promoting tourism in their respective countries. Recently Sri Lanka’s Minister of Tourism Milinda Moragoda who was on a three-day official visit on an invitation of Government of Indonesia for participate the Trail of Civilization he met his counterpart Mr. Jero Wacil with senior leaders of the Tourism sector on the sideline of the conference for a bilateral discussion on the promotion of tourism in their respective countries.
Minister Moragoda and Minister Jero Wacik discussed issues and the new development of the Tourism sector and he urged Minister of Tourism and Culture Jero Wacik to provide expert help to Sri Lanka in strengthening the sector.
Moragoda, who called on Jero Wacik here, said: "both of us wants to learn each other’s experiences as to how tourism related issues are dealt at the State and community level. Sri Lanka is involving private sector in tourism related activities and wants to develop new tourism related products to attract more tourists."
Wacik said tourism is an economic driver in Indonesia from which the Centre as well as the State Governments is benefiting. He said Indonesia is developing mega destinations like Bali to provide complete experience for tourists.
During their meeting, both leaders discussed matters of cooperation in tourism sector between the two countries.
