Colombo, 16 May, (Asiantribune.com): Sathyadevi the wife of Sea Tiger leader Soosai had Rs 600,000 cash and 2 kg in gold when she was captured by the Sri Lanka Navy while attempting to escape by boat Friday, said Navy spokesman Commander D. K. P. Dasanayaka
Political observers said today that by this it was quite evident that the lifestyle of all the LTTE leaders and their families had been quite affluent, whereas the lives of the other civilians held under the LTTE yoke was one of penury and lacking even in basic facilities in life. "This was most deplorable and crying for vengeance to the heavens", they said.
Susai’s wife Sathyadevi, 17 year-old daughter, 16 year-old son, Susai’s sister-in-law and a group of close relatives were in the group arrested by the Navy. LTTE intelligence wing leader Sutha and his family were also in the group, said Commander Dasanayaka.
Army sources said that several wives and children and relatives of middle rank LTTE cadres had also crossed over to the Government side disguised as ordinary civilians, but that the Army had postponed questioning them for a later date.
Army sources also said that Sathyadevi had revealed that Mathivathani, wife of Prabhakaran, along with Charles Anthony and Balachandran both Prabhakaran’s elder and younger son, are also holed up in the New Safety Zone area along with Prabhkaran.

Ask Sathyadevi - Where is the rest of the money and gold?
It is not our culture to
It is not our culture to illtreat women and children. They should be humanely treated.
They should however explain how they inherited that much of money and gold Also they have a lot of explaining to do after a 30 year insurgency that killed over 70,000 people and they were directly or indirectly closely involved.
They cannot be treated simply as a mis-guided group. If there is evidence that they took part in any illegitimate activities, they should face the law of the land.
It appears that the LTTE
It appears that the LTTE leaders robbed the cash and jewellery they forced the civillian population to deposit in the so called eelam banks, which were later blasted using explosives. By demolishing the buildings they may have attempted to hoodwink the population into believing that the SL forces bombed them, and thereby not become aware that their money and gold has been robbed by the LTTE leaders.
It also may have been an attmept to pin the blame for the missing money and gold on the advancing SL forces, while the top tigers live in luxury with the stolen assets in some distant land.
Sri Lanka should invetigate the cash and gold further and let the public know where and how this woman and anyone else acting like her accumulated any wealth found in their possession.
