Colombo, 21 May, (Asiantribune.com): Ceremonies to explain to all school children and to appreciate the good work done by the Armed Forces to unify the country by defeating the LTTE are taking place in all schools in the island this morning (21), an official of The Education Department said.

The Ministry of Public Administration has requested that the National Flag be unfurled and the National Anthem be sung in all Government Departments and in all mercantile establishments at 9.30 am this morning(21) to whip up a sense of patriotism in the hearts of the people.

Tomorrow (22) at 3 pm a rally to felicitate the Armed Forces will be held in the Parliament Square where President Mahinda Rajapaksa will preside. A procession of about 100,000 people will march to this rally from Borella in Colombo. The felicitations will wind up with a concert of songs upholding patriotism.

The Bauddha Sasana Ministry has organized several religious functions at several Buddhist temples to invoke blessings of the triple gem on the soldiers injured in battle and to commemorate War heroes who paid with their life in battles with the LTTE.
