10 died as car bomb jolted Peshawar

Peshawar, 23 May, (Asiantribune.com): Minimum 10 people got killed in a bomb blast on cinema road. Blast occurred in Khyber Bazar area of Peshawar which is one of few crowded places in city. At least 75 people were injured as the result of blast according to police.

"There was no prior intelligence report in this regard", CCPO Peshawar Saffat Ghayoor said while talking to media after unfortunate incident. While accepting responsibility of security failure, CCPO further said, "There was 50 to 60 kilograms of explosive was used in the blast and explosive was planted in a car near the cinema house building".

Injured and dead body were rushed to various hospitals and emergency was also declared. Until posting of news report, only two persons have been identified. Rest of the bodies were charred and not being recognized and some of injured are in critical condition.

Blast was so intense that cinema building nearby and scores of cars and other vehicles were destroyed or damaged in the blast. The blast was very loud and was heard in many parts of the provincial capital.

According to Information of the minister NWFP, Mian Iftikhar Hussain, the blast could be a retaliation of Pakistan army’s offensive in restive Swat valley against Talibans. In military offensive scores of militants have been killed by Pakistan army. "They are not human", information minister further added while talking to media after blast.

According to some media reports cinema house and adjacent market was receiving threats since last few days from Talibans.

Some analysts are on agreement that there can be a foreign hand behind this attack and other violent incident in Peshawar in recent days. "Now we can say with certainty that India and Russia can be among supporters and sponsors of terrorists in Pakistan", former secretary security FATA said in his interview with a news channel.

Prime minister and President expressed deep grief over this incident and a high level inquiry has been ordered to launch probe against perpetrators behind this awful incident.
