Colombo, 26 May, (Asiantribune.com): Colombo Chief Magistrate Nishantha Hapuarachchi has ordered that Daya Master and George Master of the LTTE be held for further questioning by the CID and they be produced in the Court again on June 26.

This is the first instance of judicial proceedings being initiated against LTTE activists, after the routing of the LTTE in the North.

In a report to the Chief Magistrate yesterday (25) the CID has stated that Daya Master and George Master had been responsible for media announcements of the LTTE to foreign countries and to the local press.

Velayuthan Dayanithi alias Daya Master of Thambiyasetti Road, Point Pedro and Velupillai Kumar Pancharathnam alias George Master of 2nd Cross Street, Point Pedro had been taken into custody on April 23 and handed over to Omanthai Police.

These two suspects had come as Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in the North, and surrendered to the Army. Their activities in the LTTE High Command had endangered national security and public peace, the CID told the Chief Magistrate.
