Colombo, 01 June, (Asiantribune.com): The Sri Lanka Government is now investigating how a certain international institution had distributed Rs. 28 million among eight NGOs to spend this money and try to prevent the Sri Lanka Army from defeating the LTTE. The Army Intelligence Unit has already identified the heads of the eight NGOs in question, an Army Intelligence spokesman said on Sunday.

This large sum of money had been disbursed among the eight NGOs just after the Sri Lanka Army had captured Mallawi, which had been under the control of the Tigers.

The main task entrusted to these NGOs was to spread all over the world, false information that thousands of Tamil civilians had been killed by the Army and to demoralize and inculcate to the Sri Lankan general public that the war against the Tigers can never be won by the Defence Forces.

The Army Intelligence Unit has also found out that a certain NGO which received money had produced a video film about a Black Tiger woman bomber, and that it was popularized all over the world during the period the ceasefire was in force. This was confirmed by an Intelligence Unit official on Sunday.
