Anandasangaree’s DTNA to contest alone in the forthcoming local bodies elections in the north

Colombo, 01 June, (Asiantribune.com): The Democratic Tamil National Alliance led by veteran Tamil Leader V.Anandasangaree will be contesting in the forthcoming local Government elections in the Northern Province. Already the Gazette notification is out regarding holding elections for the Jaffna Municipal Council, as well as to the Vavuniya Urban Council.

A political alliance comprising three important anti-LTTE parties, it is popularly known as the DTNA is led by TULF Leader Anandasangaree, and the alliance includes the Eelam People’s Revolutionary Liberation Front (EPRLF-Pathmanaba) and PLOTE headed by P. Siddarthan.

Speaking to Asian Tribune, Anandasangaree said that they have decided to contest alone without aligning with United People Freedom Alliance of the ruling Party.

He said that he had told President Mahinda Rajapaksa, when asked, that DTNA would contest alone in the forthcoming local government elections.

Anandasangaree, also told Asian Tribune that already Tamil National Alliance the proxy political Party of the now defunct LTTE has began send feelers whether DTNA would accommodate TNA in a political alliance. He said that DTNA has clearly told those who came up with the alliance proposal that DTNA would not have anything truck with the TNA.
