TNSM spokesman, senior leader killed in an ambush on security forces

Islamabad, 07 June, (Asiantribune.com): Spokesman of the religious outfit Tehrik-e-Nifaz-Shariate-Mohammadi (TNSM) Ameer Izzat and senior leader Muhammad Alam Khan were killed in an ambush on security forces’ convey on Saturday.

The militants ambushed the convoy of security forces carrying prisoners from Malakand town to Peshawar in the northwest of the country.

The arrested TNSM leaders were being transported in van by the security convoy when they came under attack by the militants in Sakhakot area resulting in killing of the two leaders of TNSM and a soldier.

'The convoy was attacked by an improvised explosive device (IED) followed by firing by terrorists at 5:10 am at Sakhakot,' an ISPR statement said.

It added that 'a non-commissioned officer embraced shahadat (martyrdom) while five others were injured.'

Five soldiers were also injured in the clash.

The dead aides of Sufi Muhammad were arrested on Thursday from their headquarters in the Bilal Masjid on Mingora Batkhela Road, in the Amandara village of Malakand Agency along with three Afghan nationals.
