Sri Lanka: Prof Anuradha Seneviratna is dead

Colombo, 09 July, (Asiantribune.com): Prof. Anuradha Seneviratna (70) Senior Professor, Department of Sinhala, University of Peradeniya has passed away last night after short illness leaving behind his Irangani Kumarihami and two sons - Udayana and Charu.

He has earlier served in the Colombo University and the Institute of Aesthetic Studies as its Director. He has written around 70 books in Sinhala and Engish on Sri Lanka’s culture and civilization.

In addition to Prof Seneviratna’s earlier qualification, he has won the Commonwealth Academic Staff Fellowship in 1998 and was elected to a Visiting Fellowship at Oxford University, U.K. In 1998 he was appointed senior fellow of the SOAS University of London where he taught for two years.

Remains will be at the katugastota residence and Cortege leaves on Saturday 11th July at 4.00 PM for last Rites at Mahaiyawa cemetery.
