Six killed in US drone strike Pakistani tribal area

Peshawar, 18 July, ( Another US missile strike on Friday killed six people in North Waziristan tribal agency bordering Afghanistan.

According to sources, the missile targeted a suspected Taliban compound in Bahadur Kallay (village), in North Waziristan Agency about 30 km south of Miranshah.

The security officials have also confirmed the missile attack saying the target was Taliban hideout which has killed six people.

The identity of the dead was not immediately ascertained, nor was it clear whether any high-value target was present in the area at the time of the attack.

It was the fourth US drone strike in nine days, which US claims targeting alleged strongholds of Baitullah Mehsud.

Over the past year, the US has launched dozens of missile strikes in North and South Waziristan. According to Pakistani officials, so far the United States has carried out about 48 drone air strikes since the beginning of last year, since September, killing about 465 people.

Although US claim to have killed many foreigner terrorists in these air strikes however, the locals claim that most of those killed by US drones were civilians including children.

Meanwhile three tribesmen were killed and three others injured when their vehicle hit a landmine on Miramshah-Ghulam Khan road in North Waziristan on Thursday.

The landmine was planted by militants on the road near Darga Mandi to target military vehicles.

Eyewitnesses said that the vehicle had been destroyed and the bodies badly mutilated in the blast. Two of the people killed were identified as Umar Khan and Hayat Khan, of the Gurbaz tribe. The name of the other who belonged to Saidgi clan of the Wazir tribe could not be ascertained.

The injured were identified as Pir Alam Jan, Saman Khan and Nek Sahib, all from the Saidgi clan. They were taken to the Agency Headquarters Hospital in Miramshah.

Meanwhile, one tribesman was killed in Mirali and another in Miramshah when security forces shelled villages in North Waziristan.

According to local people, a man was working in his field when a bullet hit him and he died on the spot.

Sources said that security personnel in a convoy had opened fire in Kharwanai area, killing a man inside a shop.
