Sri Lankan elected President of CNA

Colombo, 31 July, (Asiantribune.com): Sri Lankan Indra Perera has been elected President of CNA World, a conglomerate of the wider CNA ( Confedarazione Nazionale dell’ Artigianato e della Piccola e Media Impresa ), the Italian Confederation of Small & Medium and Handicraft Companies, with an overwhelming majority. For the first time ever, a Sri Lankan citizen is chosen to guide and represent an important Italian institutional organisation.

CNA World will impose itself as the main section within the greater CNA focusing on the foreign entrepreneurship sector, which is experiencing a positive growth trend. ‘Foreign entrepreneurs are starting to play an important and vital role in the Italian economy’, says the newly elected President, ‘contributing to a significant portion to the overall GDP of this country’.

CNA World brings together foreign entrepreneurs coming from 70 countries, giving wide representation to all foreign entrepreneurs without any form of discrimination or under-representation.

Indra Perera began the CNA World project by setting up the CNA World Constituent Committee, and was instrumental in boosting the formation of the new institution, which provides legal assistance and a variety of facilities to the foreign entrepreneurs in the city and province of Rome, as well as providing information on the Italian rules and regulations to the foreign immigrants residing in the city.

Participants at the Constituent Assembly meeting included Rome’s Provincial Council President Nicola Zingaretti and Head of CNA’s Rome Section and Vice-President of the Rome Chamber of Commerce Dr. Lorenzo Tagliavanti. Hemantha Warnakulasuriya, Sri Lanka’s Ambassador in Italy, was also present at the Constituent Assembly, together with Saman Udagedara, Minister (Commercial) of the Embassy in Rome. The Sri Lankan Ambassador highlighted that this is an important day, as a Sri Lankan national is elected to represent an important reality within the Italian institutional framework.
