But according to the organizers the agitation was organized by United Front for the Protection of the Motherland (UFPM) which comprised of 12 pro JVP trade unions, University Students Association and National Bhikku Front.

Thousands of Sinahala nationalist protesters marched from Campbell Park at Borella shouting slogans demanding the ouster of Norwegian mediation in the ongoing peace process with Tamil Tigers and the government and to demerge east from the North.

Leader of Sri Lanka’s Sinhala nationalists’ Marxist party JVP Somawansa Amarasinghe, was seen wearing red shirt leading the procession and shouting slogans during a protest march yesterday in Colombo.

However it was noted that Wimal Weerawansa, the firebrand propaganda secretary of the outfit was conspicuously absent from the protest march.
