Suspected LTTE claymore mine found and diffused

Colombo, 19 October, (Asiantribune.com): Colombo-Kandy main road was closed for some time and traffic were diverted along alternative routes when police discovered a claymore mine at Kadawatha, a Colombo suburb, October 19 in the morning hours.

The five kilo gram claymore mine with all the hallmarks of the liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam was placed at the 9th mile post on Colombo-Kandy main road , the Police said.

According to the same sources it has been placed near Pushparama Road at the 9th Mile post targeting civilians.

The mine was diffused by the bomb disposal unit of a security force and the road was reopened for traffic and pedestrians, the police said
