Congressman Frank Pallone condemns the LTTE for its suicide attack on unarmed sailors heading for vacation

Washington, 20 October, (Asiantribune.com): Democratic Congressman, Frank Pallone Jr. strongly condemned the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) for its suicide attacks at Habarana in a statement issued to the press. Frank Pallone Jr :I strongly condemn the brutal attack on Monday near Habarana, Sri Lanka that killed more than 90 people, mostly Sri Lankan sailors. The navy personnel were unarmed and heading home for vacation. This act of terrorism is inexcusable. I extend my deepest condolences to the bereaved families and to the Government of Sri Lanka." A much respected and senior Congressman for the 67th District of new Jersey he is the founder and co-chair of the Congressional Sri Lanka Caucus.

Very conversant on South Asian Affairs he was once given India’s Padma Bhushan honor for the service he has rendered to India serving in the Indian Congressional Caucus.

The navy personnel were unarmed and heading home for vacation. This act of terrorism is inexcusable. I extend my deepest condolences to the bereaved families and to the Government of Sri Lanka."

"The LTTE must denounce terrorism as a means to its political aspirations. Hostilities must end and violence must not be the means for resolving ethnic conflict. All efforts must be focused on restoring and sustaining peace and both parties must return to the negotiation process."
