"Allegations against Allan Rock baseless"

New York , 03 December, (Asiantribune.com): Office of the Special Representative of the Secretary General for Children Affected by Armed Conflict denies that Ambassador Allan Rock, Special Advisor to the Special Representative has not attended a LTTE fundraising dinner in Canada. Ambassador Allan Rock: "At no time, and not in any capacity, have I attended a LTTE fundraising dinner." On 13 of November, Ambassador Allan Rock released his statement in Colombo, after concluding his 10 day mission to Sri Lanka, alleging that certain elements of the Sri Lanka Government "security forces are supporting and sometimes participating in the abductions and forced recruitment of children by the Karuna faction."

This statement alleging "the Sri Lanka Government’s Security forces supporting and sometime participating in the abductions and forced recruitment of children by the Karuna faction," has opened the Pandora’s Box.

Sri Lankan Government sources as well as supporters of the Government launched a vilification campaign alleging Ambassador Allan Rock for his alleged unsubstantiated statement, as a pro-LTTE man who came with a written script to allege the Sri Lnka Government as well as the Tamil Makkal Viduthalai Pulikal led by V. Muralitharan alias Colonel Karuna involving them in the abduction and recruitment of underage children.

“Asian Tribune” learnt that Radhika Coomaraswamy, the Special Representative of the Secretary General for Children Affected by Armed Conflict, who is a Sri Lankan national and she appointed Ambassador Allan Rock as special Advisor and to visit Sri Lanka to avoid conflict of interest.

Government sources alleged that Ambassador Allan Rock is from Ontario, Canada and were under the influence of the Tamil Tigers who are politically active in Toronto and other parts of Ontario in Canada.

The recent statement released by the Office of the Special Representative of the Secretary General for Children Affected by Armed Conflict emphatically denied the allegations against Ambassador Allan Rock.

The statement said:

"These reports are false.

"At no time, and not in any capacity, have I attended a LTTE fundraising dinner," stated Ambassador Rock.

These claims are baseless."

In the meantime reports revealed that Allan Rock has already debriefed to the appropriate officials in the United Nations about his report and it is learnt that he has come down very heavily on the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam, who have continuously violated the agreement on the child recruitment and it is learnt that Ambassador Allan Rock is recommending to the Security Council when the report is suppose to be presented in January 2007, for harsh and punitive actions against the Tamil rebel outfit.

There have been reports in the Sri Lankan papers and websites that Ambassador Allan Rock, Special Advisor to the Special Representative for Children and Armed Conflict attended a LTTE fundraising dinner in Canada.

These reports are false. "At no time, and not in any capacity, have I attended a LTTE fundraising dinner", stated Ambassador Rock. “These claims are baseless”.
