SLT connect LakSathosa retail chain to a single IP network

By Quintus Perera – Asian Tribune

Colombo, 05 December, (Asiantribune.com): Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT), has designed and implemented an integrated communication solution to LakSathosa, where all branches are connected to LakSathosa branch network. SLT's communication solution enables both data and voice services to all branches. The solution encompasses a PABX which is used centrally to channel all the voice calls while data connectivity will ensure that all stock movements and employee interactions to be monitored and administered centrally. Customers across the island shopping with LakSathosa now have access to the best prices for their commodity purchases and shop with a retail chain that is networked across the island providing faster and dependable service across all 50 outlets operational at present.

The current solution connects all 50 operational outlets, with the ability to connect all new outlets to the network at minimal cost. Central connectivity is limited to a new port being defined in the LakSathosa network, thereby creating a scalable network.

SLTs Intelligent Solutions deliver next-generation communication with a number of key technologies and platforms in areas such as data, voice and networking. These services are supported by a high tech MPLS (Multi Protocol Label Switching) based IP backbone built on SLT's island wide optical fibre ring network. This IP backbone offers a host of services such as IP-VPN, ADSL, voice VPN's and broadband centred hosting.
