ABC launched the first all three language Credit Card

Colombo, 10 December, (Asiantribune.com): ABC Credit Card Co., a subsidiary of the ABC Group captured the honor of introducing a credit card for the first time in Sri Lanka in all three languages – Sinhala, Tamil and English. It was launched on the 17th November.

ABC group is now 25 years and has been involved in various businesses like container transport, shipping, imports, plantations, insurance, travel and a host of other business has now introduced a Credit Card through their subsidiary company ABC Credit Card Company.

Orville Pereira, Managing, Director, ABC Credit Card Ltd, speaking at the press briefing held at Hotel Galadari to explain the modalities of their Credit Card system said that ABC Group was founded in 1984 by John Shiran Disanayake and today it operates within 12 other limited liability companies and the idea of the Credit Card is initiated by Shiran Dissanayake as Chairman of the Group.

Pereira said that the three language unique feature would definitely create a niche in the minds of the people. The card conforms to international specifications and requirements. To be more secure, the Card carries the photograph of the holder and there is also a hologram as a further security measure.

He said that the transactions on this card can be done in any part of the country through the established merchant network initially aimed at around 1,000 outlets and the Card is classified in to three categories. – platinum, gold and silver. With the issuance of the Credit Card the Credit Card company will tie up with two major banking institutions such as the Global Payments Asia Pacific Lanka (Pvt) Ltd (HSBC) and the Hatton National Bank.
