Stringent security measures imposed in Muttur

By Munza Mushtaq – Reporting from Colombo for Asian Tribune

Colombo, 02 June, (Asiantribune.com): Amidst threats issued to the Muslim community by an alleged LTTE auxiliary force who demanded these civilians to vacate their villages last week, Army officials assured that around the clock protection is being given to the villages in Muttur, situated in the eastern province's Trincomalee District.

"Defence authorities have taken up necessary measures to apply stringent security measures to these villages in Trinco," sources attached to the Army headquarters told the “Asian Tribune.”

But added that although some mischief makers were attempting to misuse this volatile situation in the East, owing to strict security measures, the Muslims living in these areas have gained confidence' and are not giving into the threats launched against them by the Tiger auxiliary force.

"Around the clock security is provided to these civilians by both the Army and the Police," the source added.
