Two policemen, civilian killed in LTTE claymore blast: LTTE gunmen kill two civilians in their sleep.

Colombo, 07 June, ( Tiger guerrillas yesterday exploded a claymore mine killing two policemen and a civilian and shot dead two civilians in the northern part of Sri Lanka as the government and the LTTE are set to meet in Oslo to discuss the security of the Nordic truce monitors.

According to reports, four Police Constables had reportedly boarded the private vehicle driven by the Manager of the Singer Company show room in Vavuniya, while they were returning after duty at an A/L Examination center at about 4 p.m. on Tuesday, when the suspected LTTE cadres in hiding activated a claymore mine through a remote controller and blew it up killing three inside the vehicle - two Police Constables and the Manager of the Singer Company, who is reported as a Tamil.

Two other Police Constables inside the vehicle and a twelve -year old boy on the road received injuries in the powerful explosion and were admitted in the Vavuniya hospital for surgery and treatment.

According to reports, Police Constables were on their way back to the Vavuniya Police station after providing security duty to the Vipulananda Vidyalaya (school), where the G.C.E Advanced Level examination was in progress.

The explosion ripped the vehicle and caused severe damages to its body killing three of them on the spot.

This was the second attack carried out by the LTTE targeting civilians within a matter of a few hours after terrorists detonated a claymore mine targeting a civilian bus that left the Welisara bus depot early on Tuesday morning, at about 4 a.m.

In another incident, LTTE gunmen shot dead two siblings in the Kayts Island.

An ex-Eelam Peoples Democratic Party (EPDP) member and his cousin sister were shot and killed on Tuesday early morning by LTTE pistol men at their resident in Velani.

The victims were identified as Keshaman Anandan, father of three children and his female cousin Ratnasingham Podini, who were shot and killed while they were fast asleep.
