‘A heaven on earth’!

By S.H.Moulana -Riyadh

One of the newly wedded Arab tourists from Saudi Arabia, Mohannad Al Shamrani, chose Sri Lanka for his honeymoon on the recommendation of many of his young friends, who have already visited the island.

When he came to me for verification I recalled what his father told me once, when he first stepped on to our soil.

He said ‘I have never been to such a beautiful country and I fell in love with it on first sight!’ One Perera from Dehiwala has arranged Mhannad’s hotel bookings and other tour arrangements, perfectly, to his satisfaction.

Sri Lankan Airline is doing a marvelous job on its part from this side for Saudi tourists who are flying to our motherland. Our special thanks to the hardworking station manager Rizvi, in Riyadh.

When I contacted Mohannad, who was on his way to Kandy, to inquire that whether everything is alright with him, I felt that he was overjoyed and I immediately followed up with the question; ‘how is our country?’ He replied ‘country?

I am in the heaven!’ It is a pity that we Sri Lankans fail to realize what we have been blessed with, in our beautiful island.

Soon after I wound up the call I sat down to type this short conversation between Mophannad and I to you for the readers to know, what most of the tourists and especially Arab tourists think about our country.

Let us keep our flag flying high and invite more and more of them to see 'the heaven on earth'!
