From R. Vasudevan—Reporting from New Delhi
New Delhi, 30 January (Asiantribune.com):

The team led by DMK Treasurer M.K. Stalin had a busy schedule in New Delhi on Tuesday in its mission to make aware the TESO resolution on speedy settlement of Sri Lankan war-hit Tamils.

In a significant move, the team met US ambassador in New Delhi Ms Nancy Powell and handed over a copy of the TESO resolution adopted in August last year in Chennai under the leadership of DMK chief Karunanidhi.

Team member K. Veeramani of DK told reporters that they requested the US to protect the human rights of Tamils and persuade Sri Lana to take necessary steps in the matter. Other members of the Stalin-led team included VCK leader Thol Tiru¬mavalavan, professor Su¬bha Veerpandian and former Union minister Sub¬bulakshmi Jagadeesan.

The team met envoys of Italy, Malaysia and Estonia on Tuesday. They also plan to meet the Russia, envoy, it was hinted.

In March, the rights issue in Sri Lanka is proposed to be taken up in Geneva. In this context, observers believe that the meeting with US envoy by the team from Chennai is considered significant.
