Sri Lanka Pakistan Friendship Association holds a Memorable Fund Raising Master Quiz Competition

The Sri Lanka Pakistan Friendship Association (SLPAFA) in collaboration with the Pakistan High Commission in Sri Lanka organized a fun-filled Fund Raising Friendship Evening recently at the Grand Oriental Hotel, in Colombo.

The Chief Guest on the occasion was the spouse of Pakistan’s High Commissioner to Sri Lanka Qasim Qureshi. The event was also attended by a large number of distinguished personalities including Former Army Commander and Ambassador General Sri Laal Weerasooria, who is the current President of Sri Lanka Pakistan Friendship Association.

The event started with the lightening of traditional oil lamp by the chief guest Mrs Qasim Qureshi along with the vice patron of the Association, Gen Gerry De Silva, President SLPAFA General Sri Laal Weerasooria, and other dignitaries. This was followed by the welcome note from Mr Iftikhar Aziz, in charge organizing committee.

The event featured an exciting and interesting Master Quiz Competition in which participants contested as teams. The questions in the Master Quiz Competition were related to Sri Lanka, Pakistan, World Affairs, General Knowledge, Science & Technology, among other subjects.

At the conclusion of the event the chief guest Mrs Qasim Qureshi distributed prizes to 3 top scoring teams. The proceeds from the event will be channeled towards many welfare projects of the Sri Lanka Pakistan Friendship Association.

The Sri Lanka Pakistan Friendship Association is one of the oldest Friendship Association of Sri Lanka which was established 62 years back in 1950. The Association has been able to establish itself as a useful platform, dedicated to the promotion of bilateral relationship and friendship between Pakistan and Sri Lanka. This relationship is not restricted to any one area or field, but it encompasses every aspect of bilateral cooperation i.e. people to people contacts, culture, education, health, etc.

The Association is endeavoring to promote cultures and traditions of both nations by supporting and encouraging cultural exchanges, celebrating events of national importance of both nations like National Days, Independence Days, etc. The SLPAFA also promotes various social welfare and fund raising activities, student exchanges and encourages students to obtain admissions into the recognized learning institutions for higher studies in Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
