The League, the Organization and the Union

By S.H.Moulana - Riyadh

The Arab League comprising of 22 Arab countries was originally formed on 22 March 1945, with 6 Arab states.

The Organization of Islamic Conference comprising of 57 Islamic states was founded in 1969.

The European Union which comprises of 27 European states was founded in 1993.

The oldest of the three is Arab League which is 65 years old and the youngest is European Union, which is just 20 years old.

The saddest part of the story is the senior of the lot, the ‘league’, was never able to solve any of the problems within its 22 member countries, not even with the help of its brother (or sister) ‘organization’ with 57 member countries of the same faith.

So both, the ‘league’ and the ‘organization’, frequently, run to the ‘union’ with 27 members for its help.

Whenever the ‘union’ intervenes in the ‘league’ or ‘organization’ member countries to solve a problem with its ‘godfather’, it always complicates the matter and leaves it to fester forever without a real solution.

Sadly, the ‘league’ and the ‘organization’ still pin their hope on the ‘union’ not realizing the predicament of their member countries, which are in worse condition now than they were before the helper or helpers came to their rescue.

See what is going on in Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Somalia and to some extent in Palestine! Aren’t these good enough for them to learn a lesson from?

Now, they are once again soliciting its help to solve the Syrian conflict!

If the ‘league’ and ‘organization’ are not good enough to solve the problems in their own member countries, is there any relevance in their existence?
